Welcome back! I will continue now by discussing my recomendation as to the best option, and then showing all the steps required to copy or move S3 objects.
Here are the steps we need to take to get all these ingredients to work together in perfect harmony:. Let's give the two buckets names. This user does not have to have a password but only access keys. If the IAM user does not have access keys, you must create access keys for the account.
So we need to allow the user to get an object in the from-source bucket, by giving him permission via the from-source bucket policy, beloning to the Source AWS Account. To do this we make use of a Bucket Policy.

Inside the S3 console select the from-source bucket and click on the Properties button and then select the Permissions section See Image 2 below. Click on the Add bucket policy button and past the bucket policy given above.3asq shingeki no kyojin
After pasting the bucket policy click on the Save button as shown in image 3 below. At this point all the setup-work so far would have had to be done for all other tools or solutions since this is the fundamental way AWS is granting permissions to resources in S3. It is important to note that this might be already configured but for a different user account.
You have to set the credentials to be that of the user you have setup the User policy for above in step four. Execute the following command and enter the user credentials, first the access key and then the secret key.
The region must be that of the region of the user account, if you do not know this just hit enter by excepting the default. You can also except the default for the last option output format and hit enter:.
You have seen now that dealing with S3 buckets we have to give the user permission to perform certain actions and at the same time give the user access to the S3 bucket. So again we will have to modify the user policy, but we do not have to create a new bucket policy for the to-destination S3 bucket. The reason is that the to-destination bucket is within the same AWS account as our IAM user and thus we do not have to give explicit permissions on the bucket itself.
However it would be good to go and check if there are not any bucket policies on our destination bucket that might conflict with our user policy. Just make sure that if it is a production environment you make these changes during a scheduled maintenance window. To allow writing to a bucket we will add the "s3:PutObject" Action to our user policy. Since the destination bucket name is different we will have to add it to our list of resources as well.

As the name suggests, it is a simple file storage service, where we can upload or remove files — better referred to as objects.
It is a very flexible storage and it will take care of scalability, security, performance and availability. The next best thing we use here — AWS Lambda!
The new world of Serverless Computing. You will be able to run your workloads easily using Lambda without absolutely bothering about provisioning any resources. Lambda takes care of it all. We can use it as a data source or even as a destination for various applications.
AWS Lambda being serverless allows us to run anything without thinking about any underlying infrastructure. So you can use Lambda for a lot of your processing jobs or even simple communicating with any of your AWS resources.
Refer to the Tree for more clarity. We need to move these task files to a new bucket while preserving the file hierarchy. For solving this problem, we will use Amazon S3 events. Every file pushed to the source bucket will be an event, this needs to trigger a Lambda function which can then process this file and move it to the destination bucket.
Either you can use an existing role that already has access to the S3 buckets, or you can choose to Create an execution role. If you choose the later, you will need to attach S3 permission to your role. Go to Basic settings in your Lambda Function. You will find this when you scroll down your Lambda Function. Click Edit. You can edit your Lambda runtime settings here, like Timeout — Max of 15 mins.
This is the time for which your Lambda can run. Advisable to set this as per your job requirement. Any time you get an error of Lambda timed out. You can increase this value. This takes you to the IAM console. Click on Attach policies. You can also create inline policy if you need more control on the access you are providing. You can restrict this to particular buckets. For ease of demonstration, we are using AmazonS3FullAccess here.
We are using PUT since we want this event to trigger our Lambda when any new files are uploaded to our source bucket. Check on Enable Trigger. We now write a simple Python script which will pick the incoming file from our source bucket and copy it to another location. The best thing about setting the Lambda S3 trigger is, whenever a new file is uploaded, it will trigger our Lambda. We make use of the event object here to gather all the required information.
Your Lambda function makes use of this event dictionary to identify the location where the file is uploaded. You can test your implementation by uploading a file in any folders of your source bucket, and then check your destination bucket for the same file. You can check your Lambda execution logs in CloudWatch.

The command also identifies objects in the source bucket that have different LastModified dates than the objects that are in the target bucket.
The sync command on a versioned bucket copies only the current version of the object—previous versions aren't copied. If the operation fails, you can run the sync command again without duplicating previously copied objects. To troubleshoot issues with the sync operation, see Why can't I copy an object between two Amazon S3 buckets? Verify the contents of the source and target buckets by running the following commands:. Compare objects that are in the source and target buckets by using the outputs that are saved to files in the AWS CLI directory.
